How I Require and Spend Money.

Money is a currency that is universal, in many countries there is what you call a national currency, for example in New Zealand our currency is the Dollar, in the islands such as Samoa and Tonga their currency is the Tala and Panga. Currencies vary all over the world, and so does the value of them. I acquire money in various ways however I prefer not to save.

There are numerous ways I obtain money, such as working, selling goods, receiving money from parents, or on special occasions such as birthdays, weddings, Christmas along with New Years. To get money for myself it is pretty straight forward, chores. Working around the house has always been a way to get hard and fast cash whether it’s $5 or $7 it still counts as money.

I find it really difficult to save and obtain money, because there a many things that I want. I usually spend most of my money on the latest fashion trend rather than the important things. But, I have learnt that it is very critical to save.

In conclusion saving money and budgeting is the best things to do with money.

Miracle at Birth 

A women in Texas U.S.A has beaten one in a 50 million odds, by giving birth to triplets, however there is a catch, two are conjoined at the pelvis. ( lower stomach region ) Mrs Silvia Hernandez and her husband were thrilled to find out they were having triplets, but despite that their were health concerns for two of the girls that were conjoined at the pelvis.

The 3 baby girls all weighed approximately 3 pounds so therefore they are severely under weight.

It is extremely rare to give birth to triplets but more abnormal when they are identical the odds are 1 in 60,000 to 1 in 200 million.

Dr. Haroom Patel a surgeon at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christ, said, ‘It will be at least six months till the conjoined babies, who share one colon, will be separated’ but until then the girls will be one.

One in a million conjoined twins survive child birth which means that Silvia giving birth to triplets and them surviving is unusual. Silvia, her husband and their son welcomed the 3 baby girls, Catalina, Ximena and Scarlett were born Saturday at Corpus Christi Medical Center in South Texas.

Mrs Silvia stated on Facebook the truth of this horrific journey. 'The truth is I cried, not because of how the babies would look because we knew we would do our best to give them the best and most productive life possible,Mrs Silvia said “I cried because the doctor said we had to understand and accept the fact that once they were born they could die”

Funding pages have been set up for the family to help them pay for the triplets medical bills. The conjoined babies will be going through surgery before they can be separated

Video Conference with Hawaii.

Earlier today, the year 7&8 Extension group got the opportunity to have a Video Conference with two school's in Hawaii, Kea'au Elementary School and Nanakuli. One of the main purpose of our Video Conference was to learn about their schools, how they function, what they do, and how they do what they do. This conference is all leading up to the 24th of March where one of their waka's, Malama Honua is going to be landing on the Pt England shore. 

Kea'au Elementary School and Nanakuli is both located in Hawaii but in different areas, this was a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with children and schools on the other side. To expand more on our knowledge on each other, we shared information about each of our schools, all schools made a presentation which had some of the key features on it, Native animals, Culture, Favourite places, their community, and other special places.

A school day for a Kea'au student isn't the same as New Zealand's school days, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays the start from 8:00am and continues to 2:10, which is a hour before Pt England Finishes. Then on Wednesdays school is from 8:00am to 1:20pm two hours just before we finish. 

 Nanakuli Elementary school, is a Hawaiian immersion school, so this means that all students who attend this school, are only taught in Hawaiian in all subjects. Nanakuli mission is to "Prepare all students think critically, problem solve, demonstrate civic responsibility and to meet or exceed the common core state standards"

Pele's Lava Flow was something that really intrigued me during our Video Conference. Pele is the fire goddess, on the left there is a map that shows were the lava is heading. The lava flow is very deadly and has said to claimed many homes, and caused people to move from their campus. 

Goals For 2015.

Day 1 back at School!!

It was the First Day Back at school, and I must admit I am looking forward to this year. It is also my last year attending Pt England school, as an Year 8, which really saddens me. 

We started of the day with assembly, where the teachers welcomed students back to school, as well as the new 2015 Prefects. 

For 2015, I am in the most amazing class. Room 2, with our wonderful teacher Ms Clark. I am enjoying it at the moment, and I am look forward to the many more terms that yet to come.
