The Pt England Way.

In Pt England every year we always start the year of with a topic and it is called the Pt England Way.  If you're actually wondering what is the Point England way? The Pt England Way is  a set of values, Behaviours and attitudes.

The Pt England way started in the 2000 and was approx finally established in 2001. A teacher out of the staff back then who helped create some of the ideas was Miss Malaysia. She came up with some ideas that still exists till this day.

Mainly the Pt England way was made, to help student behave, learn new things and at the same time to have fun. Most people believe that our Pt England way, has a connection to the Treaty of Waitangi.

The 3 P's that was involved in the waitangi is also in our Pt England way. The 1st is Protection, which means to protect others in our school, looking after the little ones.

2nd is Partnership, which means working together being able to work in group and work collaboratively. Third Participation, which means being involved in things, being part of everything and just being involved.

Comic Life.

Recently I have been attending Extension and one of our first tasks was to create a Comic Life, that represent us. We had to draw 4 symbols that symbolized ourself and what we Like, Hobbies, Nationality and many more.

This is mine below.

The 1st one is a Tongan flag and at the Bottom of it is a dove which represents one of the 4 symbols on the Tongan shield.

2nd one is of a Cupcake. I really love Cupcakes they are my favourite desert, it cools me down. By the way my favourite flavour is chocolate that is why it is brown.

Third symbol, is what religion I am. I am a Mormon, I go to Saneha Ward and I enjoy it. There is one quote/artical of faith that I really like in the bible and that is 'We Believe in God the Eternal Father and His Son Jesus Christ and in the holy ghost'.

The last and final one is what I like to do in my spare time, and that is to play sport's. I like to play any kind of sport as long as it involves a ball then I am in.

And in the middle is me!

Me!

Kia Ora, Malo E Lelei and greetings to you all, my name is Lesieli and I am a year 7 student at Pt England School, this year 2014 I am in class 4 AKA Rm 20 and my teacher is Mr Squires. One of favourite hobbies to do is to create movies and enjoy learning new things. This year I am senior and I have been loving being able to work in the street is wonderful, getting the chance to know the seniors better is even greater.

In my spare time I like to draw, read and finish things off. Sometimes I like to create movie in my spare time, movies about 'How to solve a problem' or even a movie about what we have been learning about. At school we have a number of sport teams I am hoping that I would play at least one of the many sports. But my goals for sports is the 'Practise, Practise, Practise'.

So that is me this year, hopefully I will update this when our school sports have been made and what things I will be participating in!

Empathy.

Lesieli Empathy? empG101 7 from Team 5 PES on Vimeo.

Empathy what does it mean? At first I thought that Empathy means the same this as Sympathy, after doing some research I found out that Empathy means being a good friend, trying hard to understand another persons feeling and emotions, and being able to recognize what they have been thru.

In our school we have a number of Morals and one of them is "Put Yourself in Their Shoes" Empathy is exactly like that moral. If somebody it alone, at school, or out side of school or just anywhere make them feel comfortable. Just like most people sat 'Treat people like you wanted to be treated'.

What can I do to show me being Empathy? Empathy won't tend to work it you just  stand there staring at a lonely person. No! You have to put your words in. Say 'Hello' take that person and play with Her/Him.

What I am trying to say is Empathy just won't work if all tend do is gossip and stare at the lonely person.  Your mouth was for good things to come out of. So if anyone is lonely imagine what would like to be that person, you wouldn't want to be like that so be kind and be a good friend.

And that is what Empathy is!

Treaty Of Waitangi ( Tiriti o Waitangi )

Every year on 6th of February, New Zealand marks the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840. On the 6th of February in the Bay of Island the Treaty which is a legal contract was signed to bring peace between the 2 nations the British crown and the Mãori people.

At that time New Zealand was facing problems as a small country. problems like land loss was a huge impact, crimes committed by European settlers and maoris fears of non british people taking over.

William Hobson had planned for the signing to occur on 7 February, but on the morning of 6 February 45 chiefs were ready to sign. After a lot of convincing Hobson decide for it to occur on the 6th of February.  After the signing of the treat approx 50 meetings were held from February to September 1840 to discuss and sign the copies.

Approximately 40 chiefs signed the treaty. Over the months and years, the missionary traders took the treat around New Zealand to get it signed. By the end of the year 500 other chiefs signed the treaty including 13 women

The way they signed the treaty was to put their thumb print on the treaty. Hone Heke, was the first Maori to sign the treaty. Henry Williams was the man who translated the English treaty to the Maori version. After the signing of the treaty, peace at last was restored.

There were 3 P's that were involved in signing of the treaty. Those 3 P's are very important to our school. The three P's are : Participation, Partnership and Protection. The 1st P, Participation means, don't let others be left out, make sure they be part of it. The 2nd P, Partnership means, to never give up, work in teams and always keep your head up. The last and final on Protection mean, protect every one treasure them just like our topic "Tia A Ke Taonga". "Our most treasured"
