Hobsonville Point Primary School - GEG NZ

On Wednesday the 12th of August, the Year 7 & 8 students of Extension got the opportunity to attend GEG NZ Sumit Group 2015 ( Google for Education Groups New Zealand ). This year marked the first year of it being held, and the students of Pt England Extension were lucky enough to be apart of this event.

The trip to Hobsonville was a 1hr drive, and it was pretty exhausting especially when there was no music. We arrived at HPPS (Hobsonville Point Primary School) at quarter to 9:00, just in time to collect our Swag Bags which included a map of the school, our own name tags and a bag of bagel chips, finally it was time to get GEG NZ for 2015 started.

We walked towards the school gym which was located down the hall, and we grabbed a seat. The HPPS ambassadors, lead the beginning with a Himene and a few words, they gave us house keeping rules and the day was started.

Our First session was located just down the hall 7B. We rushed down towards the classroom to find that it was packed with a whole range of people from different schools. Finally we were seated, the session started off with tips about ‘Stratch’ , how to work it, what the program features are and how the characters works.

Next, we moved onto the 2nd part of the session which was playing with the Makey Makey. The Makey Makey, was a little tool that had a lot of wires, firstly we were given a bag that included the Makey Makey, Play Dough and a whole bunch of wires.

The first thing we did was hook up the wires to the makey makey, then we made a object with the play dough, secondly my group and I plugged the black cord to the object that we made, which was a snow man, then once the the snow man was touched the sound that was put into scratch will play, and the commands that were given to the character will do what it was told to do.

Session two was just near, and we knew that our group was presenting. Our
group presentation was based on PENN (Pt England News Network), we told the audience what it was all about and how it worked. Then it was time to get the audience involved, making there very own PENN episode.

Firstly we spilt the crowd into 4 groups of 4, then it was time to put there acting skills to the test, each person had the chance to present each topic, everyone had a sentence to say. After recording the PENN made at GEG NZ was done, and was ready to be broadcasted.

In my group, there was Myself, Josephine, Stevenson, Jordan S, Ana V, Khaia, and Paige.

How I Require and Spend Money.

Money is a currency that is universal, in many countries there is what you call a national currency, for example in New Zealand our currency is the Dollar, in the islands such as Samoa and Tonga their currency is the Tala and Panga. Currencies vary all over the world, and so does the value of them. I acquire money in various ways however I prefer not to save.

There are numerous ways I obtain money, such as working, selling goods, receiving money from parents, or on special occasions such as birthdays, weddings, Christmas along with New Years. To get money for myself it is pretty straight forward, chores. Working around the house has always been a way to get hard and fast cash whether it’s $5 or $7 it still counts as money.

I find it really difficult to save and obtain money, because there a many things that I want. I usually spend most of my money on the latest fashion trend rather than the important things. But, I have learnt that it is very critical to save.

In conclusion saving money and budgeting is the best things to do with money.

My warriors story

Desire to win the game the Warriors prepared to battle. Dodging and side stepping Sea eagles got a try. The crowd went wild.
This game was held in Australia Sydney. Sprinting through the tackles the warriors did a drop kick and it went through the goal. The crowed were cheering for the warriors.

At half time the warriors were not concentrating there heads were somewhere eagles and the Manly Sea Eagles were Winning , “TRY” the crowed shouted the Warriors were upset and that they had scored a try .
At the end of the day the Manly Sea Eagles had won and sadly the Warriors had to go home with nothing. I don’t know about you but I’m proud of them anyway for making it into the final. So well done!

New Zealand Icones

Kiaora, talofa and Welcome to this special island called New Zealand! You may think that we’re not really super we’ll you’d be wrong ! One reasen why we’re so awesome is because we don't have any countries by our sides . We do things on our own and plus we have a multicultural population which makes Aotearoa a very unique country

Ther term tiki refers to a carved human figure and was a part of Maori and other Pacific cultures. It’s a mystery to find out about the myth of how the tiki got its name. On the other hand, in many parts of the Pacific , for example in Niue, the Tiki myth is unknown and human figures were not carved but they still had tiki .

The Buzzy Bee is a famous icon to New Zealand. A toy and crafts man, created the colorful wood toy sometime in the late 1930’s. New Zealanders love Buzzy Bee. It is seen internationally on stamps and magazine covers. As you can see Buzzy Bee is a treasure to lots of people in New Zealand. And also
kids.

hey i have told yous some fantastic things and i hope you have found some of our trusted icons . Hope you enjoy your day or week here in New Zealand .
