Immersion Assembly

Term 4 is once again over, and as always we have started term 4 with another Immersion Assembly. During Immersion Assembly each team ranging from years 1 to 8 perform a skit, movie or show, displaying what they will be learning for the rest of the term. This term our school wide topic is PES Survivor's  - outwit, outsmart, outlast.

We started the day with a pep talk from Team 1, this term they are focusing on zoo animals, and how they have adapted to their surrounding, to extend their knowledge on zoo animals, team 1 are taking a trip to the zoo, along with Marika who was a contestant in the karaoke sing off and took it out.

Team 2 & 3 are both learning about dinosaurs, but there's a catch. Team 2 are learning about the backgrounds of dinosaurs and how they didn’t adapt too well to their surroundings, causing them to become extinct. Team 3 on the other hand are creating there very own dinosaurs.

Animals are based everywhere, and to prove that, team 4 are going on a world wide safari. Team 4 are taking a world wide safari, visiting places they never knew about, not only to learn about it but to also explore the wild life.

Humans are what make up the earth and this term, team 5 are not only learning about animals, but always humans. Humans have been on earth for quite a while now, but not everyone of us are the same. Humans have also learn’t to adapt to their surroundings, like myself I have learnt that the weather changes a lot, so it is important to have the appropriate clothing.

I can’t wait to see what this term brings!

Immersion Assembly

Term 3 has came and gone and I must admit it was a pretty hard term, but now, after all the things that we have done I have to say I'm excited to see what this term brings, standing at the back of the hall fascinated at the way people dressed I was surprised by our topic.

Mr Burt had a device tapped to his stomach, others were dressed as french artist, and some were dressed in colours from the colour tray. Art Attack was our theme so all teams were assigned to prepare a show/play about the main topic that they would be talking about.

Time flew fast and it was the last team, Team 5. In my head I was absolutely blank I had no idea what was happening. I sat there and looked at the way they painted, steady strokes was made through the Team 5 performing session.

I looked towards the board where the 3 pieces of papers, 2 was black and one was white. Ms Langitupu was on the left side along with Ms Paget, in the middle was Mrs Nua and Mrs Squires, and on the right was Mr Barks and Mrs Clark.

At first I thought the paintings were ninjas but as the photo started to fall into piece I started to see what they were drawing. I call it body painting it were you create a image that look like something else but really its a body part. Like today the body part was a face.                                                                                                                                                                    There were 3 faces Mrs Langitupu and Mrs Paget was painting Mr Jacobsen, Mrs Nua and Mrs Squires painted Mrs Jarman, and Mr Barks and Mrs Clark had the chance to paint Mr Burt.

Over all the day was great, watching all the performances gave me sense of what teams were learning about.

Immersion Assembly.

Immersion Assembly wowed me again. This term we are learning about the Glasgow which is the Commonwealth Games. We watched the teams movies, which was presented to the whole school, I personally think that Team 5 and 4's was the best they did great jobs making their movies. At school we have two new teachers added to our Pt England Family, Ms Mckinnly Hage and Ms Ashe.

The Commonwealth Games, has more that 71 countries participating in this event. People from all over the world come face to face with people from everywhere.  The First Commonwealth Games was held in Hamilton, Canada  in 1930, and was only held in New Zealand 3 times 1950, 1974 and 1990.

Even thou Mr and Mrs Burt wasn't here to open up Term 3 it was still fun. I have to say, I think that term will go as expected.

Immersion Assembly.

I walked into school and there it was the topic board. "I like to move it, move it". I had no clue what it meant but I just wanted to wait for assembly. Oops, you may be wondering why I would want to wait for assembly. Each term on the first day we always have Immersion Assembly, it's not like other assemblies. It is Different. And by different it was really different.

We started the day a bit like this: I arrived at school at 7:50am just before 8:00am. Finally I was reunited with my friends again. We had a little chit chat, then the ball rang "Well I guess its time to go to class" Mao exclaimed. I ran towards my class but there was still no sign of our teacher. "Miss Squires" I yelled. It was just after 8:30am and Miss Squires arrived.

Entering our class room, we only had 20 minutes to mark the roll, and put the chairs away. Class 4 started by doing the roll and soon after the roll, we quickly put the chairs in their places and then we were off to assembly. Slowly walking to the hall, I saw a bunch of balloons taped to the ground. "I think they're helium balloons" I thought to myself. We finally were seated.

"Tena kotou tamariki ma" Mr Burt Yelled. "Tena Koe Mr Burt" we yelled. And from there on that's where the fun began. The performances started from Team 1. They presented a movie that was based on the zoo. It wasn't about the animals, it was about all the things that makes a zoo safe, not only for animals but for people who visit.

Then it was time for Team 2, I thought they did a terrific job. Their act was based on magnificent flying machines. It was great. All the team 2 teachers were dressed as planes, and Mrs Glaze was the pilot of all the planes. The teachers were Miss Eadie, Mrs She, Mrs Glaze and Miss Dwyer. They were great actors.

Team 1 - Zoo Safety.

Team 2 - Magnificent Flying machines, Pilot, Fairy.

Team 3 - Colours, and speed of Light.
Team 4 - Buoyancy and flotation.

Team 5 - Sound.

Over all the morning was great, I enjoyed all of the performances!
